Community based volunteership   (10 months or 5 months) .

2011	5 months: February 1, 2011-June 30, 2011
2011/2012	10 months: August 25, 2011-June 28, 2012

Working with populations at risk, including high concentration of Ethiopian and Russian immigrants, at schools and community centers within a local council area. Needed are tutors, assistant English teachers, mentors, informal after-school programs coordinators, sports, music and arts & crafts experts. The COST for 10 month program is $8,100 ($1400 after MASA grant if eligible and IsraelExperts' long-term program subsidy), or $7000 for 5 month program ($3000 after MASA grant if eligible and IsraelExperts' long-term program subsidy). This includes accommodations and all IsraelExperts programs and trips. Additional needs-based scholarship may be available from MASA.

Volunteers will be involved with different segments of the population. The placements demand a serious commitment on the part of the volunteers.

In addition, IsraelExperts will organize and lead a wide range of seminars and trips covering different aspects of Israel and Jewish studies. These will include several three-day trips all over the country. The participants will thus have opportunities to learn about Israel first hand.

 

Many weekends (i.e., Friday and Saturday) will be free for traveling.

Accommodations: In most cases, volunteers will be staying in private apartments in towns with other Volunteership participants.
